Environmentally Friendly Long-Term Growth
We should give the next generation the best legacy possible. The citizens of Hoover put so much pride in their homes. I believe constituents deserve long-term sustainable and environmentally friendly growth to pass down to the next generation. We deserve a beautiful city ... that doesn't smell.
The City of Hoover should:
-
Enforce regulations concerning water run off
-
Encourage native landscaping in new developments
-
Provide public education about the benefits of native plants and environmentally friendly practices.
-
Revitalize and restore neglected landscapes.
-
Like many cities are already doing, bring in an environmental task force to oversee adaptations to climate change and develop best green practices.
-
Look into sewer off-gassing and other environmental blights.

Families
Hoover is consistently rated as one of the best places to raise a family. This is why more and more families are choosing to call Hoover home. While our community continues to grow, we need to make sure our families of all types and sizes feel seen and supported. We benefit from great public schools, and as Alabama embraces the Literacy Act, I want to ensure students have resources like increased screenings for specialized learning disabilities to increase literacy.
-
Hoover has amazing families and while our community continues to grow, we need to make sure our families feel seen and supported.
-
Hoover can continue to do this by increasing investment in education, providing adequate resources for schools and supporting our state of the art library.
-
We must guarantee that at minimum, our schools have adequate space for the number of students in attendance.
-
To ensure all students meet full potential, Hoover should increase screenings and provide resources for specialized learning disorders and neurodiversity that can include dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism, and audible processing disorders.
-
Hoover should also make sure all kids are fed, increasing community outreach to families in need.
-
We must continue to support and provide resources for first responders including the fire and police department.

Arts, Culture & Business
Hoover has done amazing things regarding housing development, retail and sports. Having worked in the art industry for 15 years, I know how much our city would benefit both socially and economically from putting the same level of investment into showcasing the cultural diversity and creativity within the city.
To highlight creativity and the arts, Hoover should:
-
Develop a downtown area.
-
Build a performing and visual art center.
-
Install public art.
-
Encourage arts and cultural festivals and events.
Hoover has amazing businesses. However, women and minorities are drastically underrepresented in the business population. Hoover would benefit from amplifying these voices in the business community.
-
Outreach and community support should be given to increase opportunities for women and minorities.
-
Creating a "downtown" feel to areas of the city like the Patton Creek shopping center would be a great way to attract small business.
-
Businesses are constantly changing in the age of online consumerism. Providing resources for in-person shopping at small stores would be beneficial.
-
City council should look to other cities that have successfully cultivated resources for small business,- such as Nashville, Tennessee, and Greenville, South Carolina.
