LIZ LANE
FOR HOOVER CITY COUNCIL
"The call to be an artist not just of the story- but an artist of and for the community."
City Goals
Sustainable & Environmentally Conscious Growth - Community Enrichment - Arts and Culture expansion
Arts & Culture
Hoover has done amazing things regarding housing development, retail and sports. Having worked in the art industry for 15 years, I know how much our city would benefit both socially and economically from putting the same level of investment into showcasing the cultural diversity and the creativity within the city.
Families
Hoover is constantly rated as one of the best places to raise a family. This is why more and more families are choosing to call Hoover home. While our community continues to grow, we need to make sure our families of all types and sizes feel seen and supported. We benefit from great public schools, and as Alabama embraces the Literacy Act, I want to ensure students have resources like increased screenings for specialized learning disabilities to increase literacy.
WHAT I LIVE BY
"Even if I knew the world would end tomorrow, I would continue to plant my apple trees”- Martin Luther

Liz Lane is a lifelong Alabama resident, small business owner, and mom who’s running for Hoover City Council. She is dedicated to bring fresh ideas, creativity, and community-driven growth to the city. She’s not a typical politician—she’s an artist who grew up in a gallery, started her own businesses, and understands the importance of small businesses, the arts, and strong neighborhoods.
Liz believes in a Hoover where neighbors show up for each other—whether that’s helping when a car battery dies or celebrating similarities and differences. Now, she’s ready to show up for the people of Hoover in a bigger way. She’s asking for your vote on August 26 to help make Hoover even better. Let’s do this!
WHY IS CITY COUNCIL IMPORTANT?
WHAT DOES A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER DO?
NO. 1
Enacts ordinances, which are binding laws, and resolutions, which express decisions or authorize actions. Both help govern the city and support community development.
NO. 2
Approves the annual budget, deciding how tax dollars are spent on public services like roads, safety, parks, and community programs. The process includes a proposal, public input, review, and final approval.
NO. 3
Appoints members to local boards and committees. They review applications, interview candidates, and vote on appointments. This includes school and library boards.
NO. 4
Serves as the final authority to review and potentially overturn commission decisions, ensuring they align with city policies and community interests.
